According to a belief prevalent among the Roman Catholics, marriage is the best system in the world and that the bond between the couple which lives together and offers prayer together, lasts long. The film’s story is woven around family and social values portraying the importance of marriage and family stability. The film focuses on traditional culture and rituals such as engagement and roce (anointing ceremony).
The film focuses on a non-resident twenty-seven-year-old boy Roy who works in Dubai. His family in Mangalore comprises of a widowed mother, younger brother and an adopted sister. The boy returns to Mangalore to get married and after his marriage, his wife does not want to live without her husband and therefore declines to go to Dubai.
Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza said social films like Kazar was the need of the day as these portray family bonding. Films should send happy vibes and help society keep its faith and tend to its emotional needs.
Frank Fernandes- the producer says that we need such films that promote the unity of the family which helps in propagating confidence and morals of happiness. According to Roman Catholic beliefs, marriage is the best sacrament because it underlines eternal unity.
